Bajaj Auto plans to bring back two-stroke engine bikes
Bajaj Auto is now planning to bring back two-stroke engine bikes in the Indian market.
These bikes were practically phased out due to their high polluting nature.
The company recently launched two-stroke engine three-wheelers with gasoline direct injection technology.
They are now working on a customized edition of this technology for bikes and scooters.
Bajaj said that this new technology allows them to replace the carburetor which delivers better fuel efficiency and higher power (torque) than the conventional two-stroke engines.
A senior Bajaj Auto executive added in a statement: βIt is a big leap in the two-stroke technology and we are working to get it on our bikes and other two-wheelers. The gasoline direct injection (GDi) engine has substantially lower emissions than even alternate clean fuels like CNG and LPG. Additionally, it has lower operating costs than four-stroke technology that currently dominates the bike market.β
