Renault and Nissan to develop a Tata Nano rival car
Renault and Nissan would continue to work on their plans to develop a low cost car to challenge the recently showcased Tata Nano car.
Renault Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ghosn said in a statement: “We’ll go ahead with it” on being asked this question.
Tata showcased the Nano car at the recently held Auto Expo exhibition in New Delhi. The car is priced at around USD 2500 though the on-road cost would be a bit more than that.
Renault is already selling a cheap sedan in the market named Logan but it currently cost around four times as much.
Ghosn added on their plans: “You’re going to see Renault and Nissan coming with a different car in the same price range for the Indian market.”
The company had earlier said that they aimed to build a car that would sell for around USD 3000 in the developing nations.
