Last.fm makes song available to play on demand
Last.fm has announced that they are now making available around 3.5 million songs for on demand play.
The web based service enables music lovers to explore new form of music from different artists. They would now be able to listen to the songs they click on for three times.
After this, the user would be forwarded to one of the digital media stores in case he wants to buy it online.
They are powering the service through online advertising and the revenues generated from referring the users to the media stores like Apple iTunes and Amazon MP3.
The company is also providing a platform for unsigned artists to make money if their music becomes popular on the service.
This new feature from the company now puts them in direct competition with companies like Imeem.com and SpiralFrog.com.
