Apple’s offerings in iPod Shuffle and Mac Mini
Apple has played its cards right and now it remains to be seen how the people respond to their offerings in iPod Shuffle and Mac Mini. They have priced their latest offerings so cheap (by their standards) that retail stores like Target and Best buy have started storing them for sale. The stores would bring consumers, which are not exactly Mac Maniacs to Apple considering the price sounds just right to lure first time users.
The prices however are not cheap when compared to offerings from PC Manufacturers. Companies like Dell and Hewlett-Packard are offering cheaper computers with lot more hardware when we take Mac Mini into consideration. However, if you look at the brand value, compactness, and cuteness of the Mac Mini, you just cannot resist the cheapest computer ever offered by Apple Inc.
Digital music player market has worse competition. MP3 players are cheap and now even big brands like Sony have released their own versions. Market is already flooded with cheap Chinese players, which cost little and are easily replaceable. However, Apple just might lure the customers with their ultra small (Apple compared the size of the iPod Shuffle to chewing gum packs!) offering costing just USD 99. They of course have the advantage of owning the world’s most popular online digital music store in iTunes, which sells around a million songs per day! iPod is the only player in the market which plays the songs bought from iTunes.
These dual combos just might be the boost apple needed to come to mainstream computer market with more users than ever!

You fail to mention that the price Apple charges ALSO includes the most advance consumer OS in the world immune to virri and spyware. It also includes the most consumer orientated productive software wich includes iPhoto5, iMovieHD, etc..
Again, comparing Apples and peanuts.

Good . They need to start going to down in price and create things more affordable . Mac beats windows x 1000 . Security patches with windows is pathetic .It has been tested that in 20 mintues without a firewall or virus scanner your whole windows system will die .
