HP Compaq 6720T Mobile Thin Client launched
Hewlett-Packard has launched a new laptop device which is actually a Thin Client featuring minimal storage and wireless networking features.
This new product is the HP Compaq 6720T Mobile Thin Client. It comes loaded with just 1GB of internal flash storage.
Its data storage and system management would be handled by a remote server connected to it through a wireless/wired network.
HP said that the notebook like device is powered with the Windows XP Embedded OS which loads off the flash module.
HP added that these devices are pretty useful for corporate environments as the data is stored remotely and as a result is less prone to data loss.
These kinds of machines also make it easier for the network administrators to keep them updated as they boot of the remote server which can be updated remotely for a large number of machines.
