Apple has upgrades lined up for PowerBooks
Apple continuing with their new hardware launches has now upgraded their PowerBook range of laptops with new technological enhancements and price cuts. The rise in speeds of the processors has been negligible. However, otherwise the upgrades are quite impressive. The highest end processor being offered on PowerBooks has been upgraded from 1.5 GHz to 1.67 GHz. In addition, the new range also comes with standard RAM specification of 512 MBs.
More features are lined-up for Apple fans in the form of faster graphic cards and hard disks… 8x SuperDrives and more interestingly standard 802.11g-based wireless networking, Bluetooth 2.0. Apple is also introducing two new technologies patents for which are still pending with the authorities. These new features are the scrolling TrackPad and the Sudden Motion Sensor. The first feature would now let PowerBook users to quickly scroll through long documents or pan within the window using two fingers on the touchpad. While the second feature is supposed to protect the PowerBook’s internal Hard drive in case of accidental drops.
The system senses drop motion of the machine, parks the disk drive’s heads, and locks them before the PowerBook hits the floor. Apple says this technology has been integrated on the laptop’s motherboard itself thus does not depend on outsourced technology or hardware maker. Apple has also introduced another new technology, which lits up the keyboards of the machines many times brighter than older model. Again, Apple surprises the media when they say that battery life is not much affected with these changes.
There are many more features in the latest lineup of Apple PowerBooks, which are now also reported to be cheaper by almost USD 100 to USD 200. For more, hop onto Apple Website for the latest!
