Yahoo to take some time before responding to Microsoft buyout offer

Microsoft recently surprised the market by announcing a bid for the internet media giant Yahoo.

Yahoo has been struggling in the recent times with Google staying the leader in the search engine and online advertising markets.

The web’s most popular destination has now said that it would take quite a bit of time for them to take a decision on this bid.

Yahoo said in a statement that they are now undertaking a deliberate review of Microsoft’s unsolicited offer. It added: “A review process like this is fluid, and it can take quite a bit of time.”

This could also mean that the company might be interested in seeing rival offers from other companies. Market reports claim that Comcast, Viacom and General Electric could be interested in challenging Microsoft for this deal.

Microsoft went public with their offer after they were continuously rejected by Yahoo for such a deal. Apparently they believe that the offer value would entice the investors in Yahoo to pressurize the company in taking a decision.
