Microsoft takes majority control over Fast Search & Transfer
Looks like Microsoft is on an acquisition spree. The company has now stated that they now own 92.6 percent of Norwegian search software firm Fast Search & Transfer.
The US based software giant has also now extended its takeover offer.
They had last month announced a bid for this company. Microsoft had offered them 19.0 crowns per share which was around a 42% premium over their then stock price.
Incidentally, Microsoft also just announced their bid for the Internet media giant Yahoo. That bid is worth around $44.6 billion and could shakeup the web for the generic Internet user. Yahoo is taking its time to study the bid. Google has expressed its disappointment over this bid calling it yet another attempt from Microsoft to extend their monopoly.
