Facebook launches Spanish edition of the web service
Online social networking portal Facebook has now launched their first non-English edition of the service in Spanish language.
They are hoping that localization of the service would help them boost their membership and catch up with the market leader MySpace.com.
They are also now planning to launch French and German versions before April.
MySpace in comparison is already available in as many as 13 languages, including Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Italian.
Facebook needs to localize the service as majority of their members are from non-US nations most of which speak other languages as well.
As many as 2.8 million Facebook users are from Latin America and Spain.
Facebook received help from their users for this localized service. As many as 1,500 Facebook users submitted the translations for the service to launch this Spanish edition.
