Blu-Ray continues to gain over HD DVD
Sony’s Blu-Ray format is continuously gaining more support in the market as they aim to become the next generation storage format standard.
Retail Company Best Buy has now announced that they are now going to provide more shelf space and marketing for Blu-ray players and software. This means that Blu-Ray would now figure more prominently in their stores compared to rival format HD DVD.
Mike Vitelli, Best Buy’s senior vice president for home solutions spoke about this decision: “We’re trying to be a customer advocate. Consumers want some clear direction. We’re stepping out and giving them that recommendation.”
Netflix is the leading movie rental service and they have now announced that they have now stopped buying HD DVD discs.
The company said: “We expect that all of the studios will publish in the Blu-ray format and that the price points of high-def DVD players will come down significantly.”
Blockbuster had also said last year that they now prefer Blu-Ray format over HD DVD.
Looks like Toshiba is now in deep trouble with their HD DVD format losing the war against Blu-Ray.
