Yahoo! announces Yahoo! OneConnect integrated service
Yahoo Inc. might be facing an acquisition bid from the software giant Microsoft but they are still working hard on enhancing their own services.
The Internet media giant has now announced the Yahoo! OneConnect service which has been designed to provide an integrated e-mail, instant messaging and social networking solution to the web user.
Marco Boerries, executive vice president for Connected Life at Yahoo spoke about this new service: “The key driving force in opening up the platform is putting content into the device. No company can create these ecosystems alone. We have to be open.”
This new service from the company features an open architecture which means that third party developers can code applications and features for it.
This is one good example of why Yahoo is very much different from Microsoft and a combined entity could be bad for the Internet.
