Texas Instruments and Qualcomm display Google Android Prototypes
World Mobile Congress is on and we can now see some of the first prototypes of the devices which would arrive in the market soon loaded with the Google Android mobile platform.
Texas Instruments Inc. and Qualcomm Inc. were two companies which displayed these devices.
TI showcased a device powered by their OMAP3430 multimedia processor. A company representative said that the Android platform is being developed in such a way that it takes very little time to get a cell phone from concept to market.
Company representative Ramesh Iyer added: “It makes the idea of developing and customizing software very easy.”
Qualcomm also showcased an early prototype. Company representative Rob Woodford said: “What Android is doing for Linux is consolidating a huge fragmented market. Google is the first who can pull together the fringe market and pull something out of it. For us it is a great opportunity to get in on the ground level of a new ecosystem and create a new environment.”
