More than a million Maruti Alto manufactured in India
Maruti Suzuki has announced that they have rolled out their millionth Alto since its launch in 2000.
Alto has been the bestselling car in the Indian market since quite some time now. It is scheduled to face its toughest challenge this year from the Tata Nano which would cost less than half of its price.
Alto has been an important product for the company and it has proved its value in this period. It managed to overtake the sales of Maruti 800 to take the top spot on the charts.
The amazing aspect of this achievement is that the last five lakh units were produced in just 25 months. It sells close to around 20,000 units per month in the Indian market.
With this Maruti has now three models which have crossed this milestone. Maruti 800 and Omni have already seen the 1 million production mark.
