Microsoft shuffles their online division as they work on acquiring Yahoo!
Yahoo! might have rejected the acquisition bid placed by Microsoft but the software giant is not giving up so soon.
Microsoft seems to be preparing for a merger already as they have now shuffled their loss making online services division.
Brian McAndrews is now going to play a bigger role in this division. He is the former CEO of the aQuantive which was recently acquired by Microsoft.
He is taking over from Steve Berkowitz who would be leaving the company later this year.
Market analyst Matt Rosoff spoke about this development: “If anyone is going to lead Microsoft out of its problems online, it’s going to be McAndrews. He’s the person who has the most experience in advertising and they are going to lean pretty heavily on him.”
A market source added about his appointment: “He’s not seen as a typical Microsoft executive, because he ran his own company. That will get him respect in both Redmond and Silicon Valley.”
