BMW 5 and 6 Series cars to now feature Active Cruise Control
German luxury car maker BMW has announced that they are now installing their Active Cruise Control system on their 5 and 6 Series cars.
This control system is designed to automatically stop the vehicle in case the sensors feel that the car is heading for a crash.
It works through a radar beam which continuously checks on the distance between the car and the traffic in front of it.
Owners would be able to set the limit to be followed by the system as per their driving pattern.
The system once activated drives the car on its own and the driver only needs to handle the steering wheel.
BMW spokesman Toni Andreevski added on this innovation: “What’s novel about it today will be quite normal in a couple of years’ time. As a result, drivers will be less tired, less stressed and more able to react to dangers on the road.”
