Microsoft to continue its quest to overtake Google in search

Yahoo! might have rejected the bid from Microsoft but the software giant has said that they have no plans to stop investing in their search department to beat Google in this market.

The company said that they would invest more to continue development of their search technologies as they aim to become a major player in this segment.

Google is the market leader in the search engine market and Yahoo! comes second.

Microsoft chairman Bill Gates spoke about their plans: “We can afford to make big investments in the engineering and marketing that needs to get done. We will do that with or without Yahoo! But we also see that we’d get there faster if the great engineering work that Yahoo! has done and the great engineers there were part of the common effort.”

He added about the Yahoo! bid: “There is nothing new in terms of the process. We’ve sent our letter and we’ve reinforced that we consider that it’s a very fair offer.”
