Analyst believe Apple is unlikely to meet iPhone sales target

Bernstein Research analyst Toni Sacconaghi has said in a research report that Apple is unlikely to be able to meet its target of iPhone sales around the world.

He said that the goal of 10 million iPhones being sold in 2008 is very optimistic at this moment. Especially, if Apple has no plans to offer any new model or a fresh price cut on the current model.

Sacconaghi said that at this moment Apple is likely to sell around 8 million iPhones in the markets around the world by the end of the year.

Apple’s best chance to meet its target would be the holiday season at the end of the year but they would need something special to offer to attract more customers.

Experts believe that Apple would most likely launch a new edition of iPhone before that period. A price cut on the current models is also expected.
