PalmOne shocks potential customer with unexpected price rise of Treo 650

Handheld device maker PalmOne had a surprise in store for their potential customers when out of nowhere they came out with the announcement that they were raising the price of the unlocked Treo 650 phones to $699. The reason for this price rise hike was blamed on a mistake on part of the company!

Earlier on Wednesday the company released a public statement claiming that they would be launching the device in the market for around $599. The price is for the unlocked version of the Treo 650 phone for GSM/GPRS networks. Unlocked phones are generally expensive than phones contracted with a specific carrier.

Customers responded with complaints, which led to company releasing another statement after this announcement that it would honor the sales made before the price rise was announced. The company started selling the devices sometime ago though these would reach the customers only in a week or two.

Treo 650 from PalmOne is a smartphone with capabilities of a cell phone and a digital organizer combined with web enabled services like surfing and managing mails.
