Report says Ask Jeeves has acquired Bloglines
Blogging services are back in news as latest reports in claims that Search Engine Ask Jeeves has bought one of the most popular web based RSS Aggregator and Blog search service Bloglines. The news has been published on the rather popular Media Blog Napsterization.org. The news is coming in just as Ask Jeeves started their own Blog few days back.
Interestingly, many links on the Ask Jeeves Blog are already pointing to pages on the Bloglines website. This also add fuels to these rumors of this acquisition. Company representative refused to release any information on this rumor as a possible public statement can be made later today.
Blogs are a huge market today. It all rather started with Google acquiring Blogger.com services along with Pyra Labs. Later, Microsoft also dived into Blogging scenario with their MSN Spaces service. Yahoo! provides a RSS aggregator for Blogs on the My Yahoo! services. Hence, a move from the search engine company makes complete sense to acquire a well-known name in the blogging circle.
Ask Jeeves recently reported fourth-quarter profits, which beat market expectations.
