AOL to expand their web presence this year
Time Warner’s Internet Division AOL is aiming to expand its online presence by launching as many as 12 new websites this year.
The company aims to close the gap with Yahoo and Microsoft powered online services with this initiative.
AOL has been working hard on enhancing the revenues generated from online advertising. They have changed their business model from being an internet service provider to a provider of online services.
Bill Wilson, executive vice president of programming spoke about their plans: “We want to be sure we are appealing to as many consumers as we can”.
They are not alone. Even Ask.com has announced that they are now going to focus on catering to their web audience by specializing services for them. Both the companies are smaller players in the search engine market.
