Auto Magazine hints on a new look Tata Safari

Tata Safari has been the number 1 choice for anyone looking for a relatively cheap but rugged SUV in the Indian market. The current model has been with us since a longtime with minor visual enhancements given to it from the company from time to time. Tata has also been doing some engine enhancements to suit the market need. However, what people needed was a complete overhaul of the outlook of the vehicle to make it more modern looking.

With newer models like Hyundai Tucson coming to India in the coming months and Ford’s Endeavour making a huge impression on the local market, it becomes important for Tata to redevelop interests in Tata Safari to keep its market safe. It has been a long wait, but the news is finally out. Autocar India has released details and an image of how the new car would look like and it sure looks interesting.

Tata has given the Safari a brand new nose section making the car look a big wider than the current model. The new grill prominently displays the Tata logo, which emphasize on the brand of the car. The new headlights are clear and enhance the look of the car even further. Tata seems to have carried the fog lamps from the Indica V2 model for the new Tata Safari.

Interiors have also been revamped to make it more comfortable for the occupants. The best part is the new common-rail turbo diesel engine planned for this model, which develops around 115bhp and a lot more torque than the current engine. This alone should become a reason good enough to think about this product seriously.

New Tata Safari

Rest of the car however remains pretty much the same. Though, the magazine considers the changes good enough to carry it over for the next few years while Tata keeps working on their upcoming model (X2) scheduled for 2007 launch.
