Yahoo establishes a new research centre in Israel
US based internet media company Yahoo has announced their latest research lab in Israel.
This is the Yahoo’s first such lab in this part of the world.
They have opened up this lab in the northern port city of Haifa. It would be managed by Ronny Lempel who is an information organization and retrieval expert.
Yahoo got their man from the Information Retrieval Group at IBM’s Haifa Research Lab where he was working on enterprise search systems.
Prabhakar Raghavan, head of Yahoo Research spoke about the new developments: “Search is still in its infancy. At Yahoo, we are working on the hard core science that can lead to search experiences that are significantly beyond the current art.”
