Sharp to launch mobile phones in China
Sharp Corp has announced that they would launch their mobile phone products in the Chinese market before the Start of the Beijing Olympics.
Incidentally, they are arriving at a time when other international players are leaving the country due to fierce competition.
Kyocera had recently announced their departure from the Chinese mobile phone market.
Market analyst Soichiro Monji spoke about Sharp: “We’ll need to keep watching how the company will fare in China as no other Japanese maker, except for Sony, has succeeded in the mobile business abroad.”
Sharp spokeswoman Miyuki Nakayama spoke about their entry into china: “There is a growing number of consumers in China who want to buy high-tech handsets, such as those equipped with cameras almost as good as digital cameras, even if they are expensive. People want a nice screen especially for the Olympics.”
