Intel to develop a notebook edition of Nehalem processor

Microprocessor industry giant Intel has revealed that they are going to develop a mobile edition of their upcoming Nehalem chip microarchitecture.

This chip would first be targeted at the desktops and the servers and would later be developed for their mobile platform.

This new architecture would be a major advancement from their current Core 2 microarchitecture. It would feature between two and eight cores.

Intel further claimed that each of the cores in Nehalem chips will be able to execute two software threads simultaneously. Nehalem would be followed by Westmere microarchitecture in 2009 and Sandy Bridge in 2010.
