Strategy Analytics: Dell likely to launch Smartphones
Market analysis firm Strategy Analytics has said that it is very probable that the personal computer maker Dell would enter the mobile phone market by launching a Smartphone range.
Market sources have been claiming that the US based company is working in collaboration with Foxconn Group to develop Windows Mobile-based handheld devices.
None of the two companies have commented on these rumors.
It is very logical for Dell to enter into this segment as most of their rivals including Apple, Hewlett-Packard, and Toshiba are present in this segment of the market.
The mobile phone market is also very big to ignore for Dell which is working hard to reclaim the number 1 spot in the US market (PC Manufacturing Market).
Incidentally, Dell had last year hired former Motorola executive Ron Garriques. He was made the president of Dell’s global consumer division. This also points to the possibility that the company is working on plans to launch mobile devices.
