AMD launches Phenom X3 8000 series microprocessors
AMD is trying to make some sort of a comeback to the high performance processor market with the launch of their Phenom X3 8000 series chips.
The company said that these processors would offer significantly better performance compared to dual core processors at a lower price point compared to quad-core chips.
AMD plans to target these processors at those consumers who want the performance but are not ready to pay for expensive quad core processors.
AMD spokesman Jake Whitman said in a statement that they are now shipping X3 8400 and X3 8600 processors to computer makers.
