Trojan attacks Microsoft Anti-Spyware Application

Microsoft entered the security application market to the delight of many users of their Operating Systems with their acquisition of the Giant Software Company. Later, they released their own free version of an Anti-Spyware application, which has been downloaded by millions of users worldwide from the Microsoft’s Download Center.

However, latest news in is that a newly found Trojan named Bankash-A Trojan has been noticed in the wild which attacks this particular security application from Microsoft and attempts to disable it by deleting some of the crucial files.

It can also lead to further problems as it tries to steal online banking passwords or other personal information through a keystroke tracker. It is mostly spreading through email attachments and requires the user to manually run an infected from such a mail to install on the vulnerable system.

Ironically, the company is now recommending infected users to use Norton and McAfee Anti-Virus applications to get rid of the trojan. Microsoft some days back acquired an antivirus company (Sybari Software Inc.) and now plans to release their own Anti-Virus application.

What remains to be seen is that whether similar kind of attempts would be tried on Microsoft Anti-Virus when we see a worldwide launch in the coming months.
