Microsoft Windows XP to remain available for low cost laptops

Software giant Microsoft is considering plans to continue supplying Windows XP operating system to makers of low cost laptops.

The company currently has plans to stop offering this aging but still very potent OS in the market later this year.

An official announcement is likely to come from the company in the near future.

Microsoft is currently scheduled to stop selling Windows XP from June 30 this year.

Windows XP is crucial for these notebooks considering they are not powerful enough to support the Vista operating system.

Intel Classmate and Asus EEE PC have shown that customers have tremendous interest in low cost computing machines.

If Microsoft does not continue supplying XP to these PC makers, they are likely to lose this market to Linux.
