Google’s Douglas Merrill joining EMI as their digital music president
Search engine giant Google has lost a member of their executive team as their Chief Information Officer Douglas Merrill is now leaving the company to join EMI Music Company.
Merrill would now become the president of digital music business at EMI.
He said in a statement on this new development: “I have two passions. One is creating platforms and tools that make it easier for consumers to achieve their goals. The other is music.”
EMI has been one of the most innovative music companies in the world. They were the first of the major music labels to offer DRM free music online in collaboration with Apple.
Google spokesman Matt Furman confirmed the news and said: “We wish him the best”.
