Macrovision Releases Technology to Prevent DVD Copying
We have seen many attempts by the technology companies and the entertainment industry giants to prevent unauthorized attempts of copying protected DVD content. However, every time some way or the other has been devised to break the protection leading to mass level piracy and duplication of protected content.
The latest news in might bring some relief to these companies as Macrovision has announced that they have devised a new anti-piracy solution for DVD videos. They call it RipGuard DVD, which fixes the loophole used by applications like DeCSS ripper software.
A senior representative from the company, Steve Weinstein told the media: “Macrovision RipGuard DVD is designed to dramatically reduce DVD ripping and the resulting supply of illegal P2P content. For over two decades, Macrovision has provided the premier solution for device-to-device copying using DVD players, VCRs, DVD recorders, digital video recorders, digital set-top boxes, and media center PCsâ€.
The technology is already available in select replication facilities with more extended availability of the technology by the second quarter of 2005.
