Blockbuster working on an Apple TV like device
Market sources are claiming that video rental service Blockbuster is working on plans to launch a set-top box that would allow their customers to download content directly from the internet.
An official announcement for such a product can come as early as this month.
The company has stated in the past that they are in talks with several companies to develop ways to provide “access to media content across multiple channels”.
This new service could use the technology they gained by acquiring Movielink. Movielink service allowed downloading of movies provided by major players including Universal Studios, Paramount, Sony Pictures, MGM, and Warner Bros.
If this turns out to be true, the service would become the latest challenger to existing players in the market like Apple TV or Vudu.
