Walt Disney to move to 3D format for movies
US based entertainment industry giant Walt Disney has said that they are soon going to move to 3D format for their animated movies.
Disney Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter said in a statement that all of their movies would be made in this format beginning with “Up” next year.
The company is however going to release “The Princess and the Frog” in the traditional hand-drawn format for release for Christmas 2009.
Disney subsidiary Pixar would however release their own movies in 3-D and the traditional two-dimensional format.
Lasseter added: “I love 3-D. I made a 3-D computer-animated short in 1989 called ‘Nickname,’ and in fact my wedding pictures with my beautiful wife Nancy were made in 3-D.”
The company released their upcoming movies lineup…
Up: 2009
The Princess and the Frog: 2009
Bolt: November 2008
Rapunzel: Christmas 2010
King of the Elves: Christmas 2012
Toy Story 3: June 2010

The Bear and the Bow: Christmas 2011
Cars 2: 2012
Wall-E is of course coming out on June 27. Pixar is also working on releasing the original “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2″ in the 3-D format.
