IBM to invest USD 100 Million in promoting Linux
IBM (International Business Machines) has announced a one of the major steps it is planning to take in its Linux strategy. A statement released from the tech giant says that IBM plans to invest around US$100 million over the next three years to expand their support and Linux based technology over its software portfolio.
They would be focusing the investment on the various factors like ISV support programs, channel and partner enablement and promotion, research and development, sales and marketing, and various technology and integration centers.
The main aim through this program is to enable consumer to get solutions based on the Open Source platform. Two of the IBM’s projects are already focused on this initiative. IBM’s server-managed client model allows customers to centrally manage and deploy business applications while the IBM Workplace Client Technology enables products and applications to run on a variety of operating systems, including Linux.
This would mean great news for the supporters of the Linux Operating System. It is good to see a major tech giant going all out to support them and their initiative.
