Apple acquires chip design company PA Semi
Apple is not generally in the news for acquisitions. They are making an exception as they have now acquired microprocessor design company named PA Semi.
PA Semi specializes in designing low-power chips which could someday power their devices including the iPods and iPhones.
This company was founded by Dan Dobberpuhl who had previously worked on Alpha and StrongARM microprocessors.
Apple spoke about this new development: “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not comment on our purposes and plans.”
Market sources say that this deal was worth around $278 million.
