Craigslist and eBay face each other
Online auction service eBay owns a minor stake in the classifieds service Craigslist. They are also the operator of a rival service Kijiji.
eBay recently filed a lawsuit against Craigslist saying that the company is trying to dilute their stake in it by following illegal practices.
Craigslist has now responded by saying that eBay has been the one which is pursing malicious tactics and is possibly aiming for a hostile takeover of their services.
Craigslist said in a blog post responding to the lawsuit: “Coming from a company that views Craigslist as a prime competitor, filing suit without so much as mentioning these assertions to us beforehand seems unethical, and suggests ulterior motives. … Ebay has absolutely no reason to feel threatened unless a hostile takeover of Craigslist, or the sale of Ebay’s stake in Craigslist to an unfriendly party, is their ultimate goal.”
