Gracenote being acquired by Sony
Sony has announced that they are now acquiring Gracenote.
The deal is worth around USD 260 million.
Gracenote would function as a fully owned subsidiary of Sony.
The Japanese tech giant would use their technologies into their own products.
Sony has been struggling to compete against Apple in the digital media player market. Their videogame division has also somewhat struggled to compete against Nintendo and Microsoft.
Gracenote technology is used in popular digital media applications like Apple iTunes, Yahoo Music Jukebox.
Sony said that they expect to complete the deal by next month.
