Nissan to bring a car based on Micra in India
Japanese automaker Nissan is planning to launch their large scale Indian operations by launching a compact car based on their Micra model.
This car is likely to be made at their Chennai plant which is being setup in partnership with Renault.
This entry level car has been codenamed W02A and it would be followed by another model WO2B.
Nissan has not confirmed these reports but it did say that they are working on a hatchback model for India.
Neeraj Garg, director, marketing and sales, Nissan Motor India said in a statement: “By 2012, we plan to have eight products in the market, of which a few will be imported. We will also export cars manufactured here in completely built-up form as per current plans.”
Nissan has currently on offer its X-Trail sports utility vehicle and Teana sedan in India.
