AMD set to launch PUMA laptop platform
Microprocessor Company AMD has said that they are all set to launch their Puma laptop platform during the Computex trade show in June.
The company added that around 100 laptop designs are being prepared for this new laptop platform.
AMD said: “That’s twice as many designs as we had at the launch of our last mobile platform.”
They would also be showcasing many of the upcoming laptops to be powered by their new mobile platform at the trade show.
AMD Puma platform would be powered by their Turion X2 Ultra processor. It would also include integrated graphics and an ATI Radeon HD3400 discrete graphics chip.
AMD needs this new platform to be a success as Intel has taken away the initiative with their Centrino mobile platform powered by their new Core2Duo processors.

3400 graphics is what the integrated graphics are, that can have discrete memory. I think the articles are getting it wrong, because I’ve seen more than one say it would have integrated graphics and a discrete 3400 graphics chip.
