Apple iTunes to release movies on DVD launch day!
Apple has now said that they are now going to launch movies on Apple iTunes store the same day as they are made available on DVD format.
They have entered into a deal allowing this with several Hollywood studios.
Market analysts believe that this deal could boost the sales of movies from their digital store and could also result in improved sales of Apple TV.
Apple said that they would now offer movies from 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Lionsgate, Image Entertainment and First Look Studios.
They are all set to add new titles including “Juno,” “American Gangster” and “I Am Legend” this week.
Shannon Cross of Cross Research spoke about this new development: “The movie studios have been much slower to embrace digital distribution. This is a really good example of how they are moving more quickly toward it and we think Apple is best-positioned.”
