Charles Kane: One Laptop Per Child Project has a new President and COO
One Laptop Per Child Project has now announced the appointment of Charles Kane as their new president and chief operating officer.
He would now be responsible for day to day functioning of the organization.
Nicholas Negroponte added that he would now be focusing on the fund-raising for the project and further promote the project to governments worldwide.
This appointment became necessary after Walter Bender (former president of software and content) left the organization to protest the usage of Windows XP operating system on their laptop product.
The project was originally envisioned to supply the machines with an open source OS based on Linux.
