Yahoo Inc. and McAfee Inc. to work on search safety
Internet media giant Yahoo has said that they are now working with McAfee to improve the safety of their search results.
Yahoo said that their search results would soon begin displaying red exclamation point and a warning next to links which McAfee believes are harmful for them.
Priyank Garg, director of product management for Yahoo’s search division spoke about this initiative: “Yahoo users have clearly told us that among the most important concerns for them are all these lurking threats on the Internet. They know the damage they can do but they don’t know how to protect themselves.”
Yahoo would also be killing dangerous links from search results which are notified to them by McAfee.
The two companies did not disclose the financial arrangement of this new deal.
Yahoo! is using a toned down version of McAfee owned SiteAdvisor technology for this new feature on their search engine.
