Advanced Micro Devices aims to launch 12 core processors in 2 years time
No surprises here as Advanced Micro Devices has announced that they aim to be out with 12 core processors by 2010.
The company released their product roadmap for servers and workstations for the next two years.
AMD is working on launching its first six-core chip next year and a 12-core processor on a new platform in the first half of 2010.
These two product range are named Istanbul and Magny-Cours respectively. All of these processors would be based on 45-nanometer technology.
The company is currently scheduled to launch their Shanghai range of processors later this year. These would be their first 45-nm server chips.
