Facebook Connect initiative announced
MySpace started it by launching their data sharing initiative with a couple of third party networks. Now Facebook has announced their own similar service named Facebook Connect.
The company said in a statement: “Facebook Connect is the next iteration of Facebook Platform that allows users to ‘connect’ their Facebook identity, friends and privacy to any site. This will now enable third party Web sites to implement and offer even more features of Facebook Platform off of Facebook.”
Facebook added that the service would be available in the coming weeks.
With this service, Facebook users would be able to share their personal information with third party services like Digg.com. They would also be able to connect with their friends on the service on these third party services.
