Microsoft has now sold more than 2 million Zune players
Software giant Microsoft has said that they have now sold more than 2 million units of their Zune portable media player.
Zune is Microsoft’s challenger to the Apple iPod range of players and it has had little success in the market.
Microsoft had sold one million units by May last year so it took them a year to sell the second One Million units. Microsoft Zune is in generation 2 now though they allowed the first generation device to update to the new firmware giving existing users access to the new features. The company has just launched television shows on the Zune Marketplace in order to provide more content on download for the device.
Microsoft might have failed to put a dent in Apple iPod sales but they surely are affecting the sales of other players especially from Creative. SanDisk has somewhat managed to perform better in comparison.
Apple iPod remains the world’s largest sold portable media player.
