Sina.com launches an English language portal

China’s dominating web portal Sina.com has announced the launch of their English language web site.

The timing is correct as the whole world is interested in knowing the latest updates on the China’s earthquake tragedy.

With the Beijing Olympics coming up soon, they are likely to benefit a lot from the English language edition of their portal.

Sina president and CEO Charles Chao spoke about the new developments: “We have chosen to launch our English news site now as we would like to provide up-to-minute coverage of the earthquake for overseas people who are concerned about the tragedy. Over the longer term, we intend to make this site a window for international communities to have an easy access to China-related information and to have better understanding about modern China.”
