Intel Itanium quad core processor coming up soon
Intel has announced that they are going to start shipping a quad-core version of its Itanium processor to system vendors before the end of the year.
The company said that they expect servers powered by these processors to arrive in the market by early next year.
This new processor has been codenamed Tukwila by the company. Intel claims that these new processors would offer nearly double the processing capabilities.
The chip would come loaded with 30MB of on-chip cache memory in addition to their QuickPath Interconnect technology.
The processor would be manufactured using a 65-nanometer process which is also an improvement on their current generation chips.
