Ballmer: We are not bidding to buy Yahoo now
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has confirmed that the company is not in talks with Yahoo for a complete acquisition deal.
He said: “We are not bidding to buy Yahoo. Yet, we are trying to have discussions about deals with Yahoo that might create value, but not a whole acquisition of the company.”
Market analysts have said that the company is aiming to possibly acquire Yahoo Search to boost their share in this segment of the market.
Microsoft has already withdrawn their acquisition offer for Yahoo which the latter said was not high enough to provide the best value to their investors.
The company could also go in for a minor stake in Yahoo as part of their current talks.
Yahoo recently said that they were in talks with several players to check out a “number of value maximizing strategic alternatives”.
