Jerry Rao is NASSCOM chairman

MphasiS BFL chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Jerry Rao has taken over as chairman of National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) for the year 2004-05. Digital GlobalSoft’s Som Mittal was the chairman of NASSCOM for the year 2003-04.

Further, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) chief executive officer S Ramadorai has been appointed as the vice-chairman of NASSCOM for the current year.

NASSCOM president Kiran Karnik said, “We are delighted to have Jerry Rao as the new chairman of NASSCOM. Jerry has been actively involved in the activities of NASSCOM and heads the recently formed NASSCOM Security Forum. Jerry is widely recognised both in the areas of IT software and services and the ITES-BPO space. His global experience, knowledge, and industry expertise will be of immense value to NASSCOM. We are also extremely pleased to have Ramodorai take the position of vice-chairman, NASSCOM for 2004-05. Ramodorai, a veteran of the industry, will bring enormous sagacity and maturity to NASSCOM, with his long experience in the IT sector.”

Speaking on his appointment, NASSCOM chairman Jerry Rao said, “My endeavour will be to establish India as a high-quality, secure, reliable software powerhouse and centre for best practices in the BPO industry. We will continue to build on the global trade development programme and pro-actively engage with think-tanks, policy makers and academicians.”
