NASA to launch Hubble mission in October this year
US space agency NASA has said that they would be launching their latest mission to the Hubble Space Telescope in October this year.
The mission was originally expected for August this year.
NASA is delaying it by a couple of months to be better prepared for the launch. They need the extra time to build the shuttle fuel tanks required for the flight and a potential rescue mission.
The agency has also now pushed back the Endeavour’s supply mission to the international space station. It was originally planned for October 16. This mission would now be launched in November.
The mission to Hubble is designed to repair the space telescope. They would also be upgrading some components to prolong its life.
NASA is already scheduled to launch Discovery later this month on a mission to ISS.
