Showstash and Cinematube targeted for linking to pirated media!
Showstash and Cinematube have lost a major lawsuit for linking to pirated digital media.
Motion Picture Association of America had filed the lawsuit against these two companies claiming that they were enabling web users to pirate copyrighted material.
MPAA representative John G. Malcolm said in a statement: “Our goal is to stop this kind of blatant and illegal activity. These judgments indicate that the studios will not hesitate to vigorously pursue litigation against this type of site.”
Court ruled that the two services violated laws by providing links on their sites to illegal copies of movies and television shows.
Incidentally, similar charges can now be levied against search engine giants like Google and Yahoo which also enable users to hunt for pirated media online.
